May's Comeback Artists May Push Back Comeback Date to July

Musicians that had previously scheduled their comeback for May are rescheduling their comeback dates to July.

Due to the halt in the K-pop scene resulting from the Sewol ferry sinking, artists that were projected to come back in May have been pushed back. However, since the Brazil World Cup starts in June, another pause in the K-pop scene is projected; artists are scurrying to reschedule for July to avoid the music industry's latent period.

Although popular idol groups can afford to make a comeback in May, it is not the case for others; if musicians flock around in May for a comeback, competition will surge, and some groups may not even get a chance to perform on a music program. The earliest optimal comeback date, in this case, would be late June at the earliest.

Increased competition had already been projected for April to May; with the sinking of the Sewol, May will be the busiest. EXO, Block B, and G.NA pushed back their comeback to May; INFINITE, BEAST, Wheesung, Fly to the Sky, T-ARA's Jiyeon, Gummy, and VIXX are all lined up for May.

Even if the K-pop scene picks up, no artist wants to be the first to make a comeback, because it will take a good 2-3 weeks for the music industry to normalize. Music industry staff stated: "Although many artists will make a comeback after music programs start airing their shows once again, no one wants to be the first; we're projecting everything to normalize after 2-3 weeks".

If comeback dates get pushed back to July, the seasonal popular genres are limited; the prime comeback time will have to overlap with the Brazil World Cup.

There were, however, some popular singers and groups who made comeback in April, namely, Crayon Pop, NS Yoonji, Mad Clown (with Hyorin), Akdong Musician, Lee So Ra, Kim Jung Hwan (from Super Star K4), Park Jung Hyun (through her mini album).
